Our family was introduced to wakesurfing during the summer of 2011. I liked water skiing and wakeboarding, but loved to surf and began riding as much as possible. After friends mentioned that there were wakesurf competitions, I entered my first in June of 2012. It was the The Wakesurf Nationals in Orlando, FL. The event was great and it was a great experience meeting other people who enjoyed wakesurfing. The pros at the event were all super supportive of me and it was awesome to hear them all cheer for me when I pulled off my first 360. I was able to place 2nd in the Junior Division and wanted to enter more events.
My family was able to travel to Minnesota for the 10,000 Lakes competition. It was a really fun event and it was great to see some of the people I had met at Nationals. I placed 3rd at this event. From these two events, I qualified for World’s and was anxious to see how my riding was compared to others. I had a great weekend in Parker, AZ and placed 1st in the Women’s Amateur Surf Division. That first season set a great foundation for me to build from. I’m looking forward to continuing to improve my riding, visit new places, make new friends and, most importantly – have fun!
